Pioneering Tobacco Cessation Since 1999
Established in 1999, the New York State Quitline stands as one of the nation’s first and most active quitlines, marking a significant impact with over 2.5 million calls since its inception.
Our commitment to helping individuals quit tobacco has not only made us a busy hub for cessation support but also a model of efficiency. As highlighted in a 2017 report in the American Journal of Health Promotion, the NYS Quitline excels in its reach and effectiveness, connecting with nearly three times more people than the average state quitline.
Our story is one of dedication and success, continually evolving to meet the needs of New Yorkers striving for a tobacco-free life.

What does that mean? Quit attempts are what leads to quitting smoking successfully. The more people who smoke are motivated to make quit attempts, the more successful quits; and the result is less pain, suffering, and death caused by smoking.
