You can deal with stress without reaching for a cigarette. Deep breathing during cravings, even stress, can be a helpful coping tool.
Cravings typically last about 5 minutes, during that time try breathing in and out slowly until the feeling passes.
Focus on breathing –
Not only can breathing help calm you but it also mimics the feeling of smoking or vaping without actually doing it!
Do things you enjoy –
Hobbies, books, seeing friends.
Talk it out –
Talk to someone you trust. Sharing and getting support helps you to feel “lighter.” Eat well and rest In addition to the physical benefits, taking care of yourself also gives you a feeling of well-being, helping you to better cope with stress.
Get active –
Even a little activity can help. Find something you can handle and enjoy – and when you are ready, expand your activity.
