Nicotine replacement therapy increases your chance of quitting by reducing feelings of nicotine withdrawal and cravings. The most commonly used nicotine replacement therapy are the nicotine patch, gum, and lozenge.

It can work for you. You may have used the patch, gum, or lozenge in the past and felt it didn’t work. This is usually caused by not getting enough nicotine. Be sure to use nicotine therapy for the full amount of time and the right dosage.

Read all of the manufacturer’s instructions before using any nicotine replacement therapy. Remember to talk with your healthcare provider for quit support and questions about medications and dosing.
