Cigarettes are the most common type of litter in the world. The filters and butts can take up to 10 years to break down, and they release harmful chemicals into the soil and water. Growing tobacco also uses a lot of land and water, which causes trees to be cut down and adds to global warming.
Vapes aren’t better. When people throw away vape batteries and plastic cartridges, they pollute the environment. The liquids used in vapes and the way they are made also create chemical waste.
